Power has always been a priority for me, especally when I only had my 817ND. I used to use Lipo, which to be fair, offered me a good return for weight v power ratio, still got them and keep them maintained. I then bought a Tracer LifePo4 14amp and what a difference, I can now go out with the 857 and play at 10w all day no problem. I note a comment below about the Jackery, I bought one recently (500) with its matching solar panel and I have to say I am very impressed with it. 500 cycles, if at once a week is 9 years, however the max life of the battery is probably 4 to 5. It powers my laptop for logging, it charges my phone, runs the radio and powers the LED lights no problem, so I guess its horses for courses. Thanks again for sharing.

LiFePO4 battery - i carry two when i go out portable, so far never needed to use the 2nd one, excellent battery (so far) and not too expensive all things considered !

I have a few LiFePo4 Tracer batteries - all 7Ah or so, but I have never exhausted a full one, so I certainly recommend less than that capacity. One thing to note is to take care about is not using the max rating as it’s for a few milliseconds.

A big thumbs up for LiFePO4. Much safer than Lipo and a very flat discharge curve.

LiFePO4 are definitely my favorite batteries for running something like an FT817 or G90, but for ultra-light operation using a CW only rig, I prefer Lipo batteries. For that lighter setup, a tiny 500mA to 1500mA battery is more than enough, e.g., for SOTA. Downside is you need a balance charger, so not the cheapest option, but definitely very light.

LiFePO4 is the only way to go today. GREAT batteries (and SAFER) in many different sizes. To use anything else is kind of ridiculous. Check out some of the smaller "solar generators" like the Bluetti power stations, not backpack portable but excellent products. Don't bother with Jackery, they still use the old lithium batteries, only 500 cycles to 100%.
