Honest to God, people are getting dogs based on the dog's popularity at the moment and NOT on sound advice, or their ability to handle the dog. I follow an IG channel where the rancher uses Anatolian Shepherds to guard his herd, and he has great success with the dog.
But the Cane Corso breed has jumped from 20th place last year to 16th on the AKC list of most popular dogs, and this breed is NOT for everyone as well.
There's a difference between a protection dog and a guardian livestock dog, and most people do NOT know the difference and that's where the huge problem lies. Also, there are trainers out there who are clueless and they damage the dog even further.

Great video! Love your channel. I feel that most people see a pup and instantly their heart takes over their brain and I do completely understand that. They don’t realize what they breed traits are.I knew I wanted another Mastador and knew they grow VERY FAST. She wasn’t the easiest to train with some commands but now that we have that connection I don’t need to leash her in public. Which is nice not worrying about her leash getting caught in my wheelchair.

I just got my 4th Akita pup a couple months back, and we've been going hard on desensitization and non interactive socialization. We're out a lot so people ask about him and the breed every time I leave the house with him. He's very beautiful and very neutral thanks to consistent training since I work from home. When people hear that I don't really recommend them for first time owners or someone who just wants an 'everyone' dog they are always shocked and seem to not believe me until they Google it. Lol

Best questions are for people who get a dog. How much time you have to train your dog in the first 2-3 years (if you get a puppy) and how? What would you learn your dog( give you dog a job or they will find a job)? How do you anticipate? And can your work in a team (mindset of being a leader and not the boss) ? All dogs are hard to train if you don’t have a good answer on these questions.

Define "hard to train" because I have a Belgian Malinois Shepherd, I've NEVER had a dog before him (not even as a kid), and he's been so easy to train. Lil stubborn sometimes, but so am I. Don't think he'll ever stop wanting to chase cats, birds, and squirrels, however he has fantastic impulse control because I taught him to have it.
