I love how personal and creative this gift is opposed to a brand new gift which can sometimes be impersonal- not to mention how zero waste it is!

Nope I’m just so beyond buying new, I believe it is perfectly acceptable to gift second hand items. You put together a beautiful basket that they will clearly love and cherish (which is all that matters)

Anyone who thinks this type of gift is unacceptable sould not be someone you are buying a gift for anyway. I think its adorable.

I exclusively thrift gifts now! However, with anything holding food I make sure to test for lead bc that can be pretty common at antique stores

I would rather have somebody go and give a thoughtful gift like what you are giving then going and purchasing a brand new item that might just end up never being used because they don’t know what to do with it. With the type of gift you are giving it has meaning and thoughtfulness and that means so much more than buying something brand new in my opinion. You put your knowledge of what the couple likes and what you are passionate about into this gift. It is such a wonderful gift.

For my baby shower one of my best friends who thrifts often and actually resells on clothing sites gave me a basket full of vintage baby boy clothes. They were absolutely adorable and I loved them all. She said it took her months to find everything and I had a range of sizes. Was my favorite gift

I think it’s perfectly fine to gift thrifted/antique items as long as they are in good condition!!

My wedding is coming up and while we have a registry, I would LOVE something like this!!! Love eco-friendly and this feels a lot more personal than a blender haha

New, second hand, thrifted, homemade does it really matter as long as you think the recipient will like it!

This is a gift that requires thought, time and effort. As long as you’re not just throwing randomly thrifted items in with no thought or effort, this is heartfelt. Hitting one-click buy on a registry does not. Definitely acceptable!

I would be absolutely thrilled if someone gifted this to me. Most people around me though would find it tacky to gift something from the thrift store. I need to find my people 😅

I love this! It's way more personal to them, is very eco-conscious, and is a gift they can get a LOT of use out of!

I think you know the couple and what they will like and that's what's appropriate.

I’m getting married and if we were to receive a gift like this, we’d both be ecstatic because one it’s repurposing and giving a new home and also, it’d mean our friends knew us that well and that we’d love and appreciate it above anything “new.”

I would LOVE if someone took the time out of their day to go and scour the thrift store just in hopes of finding me a gift! Way more personal in my opinion

I had a friend gift me samples from sephora and a hem oil she didn't use. The fact she though of me at all was more important to me.

If I was regifting items or using thrift store items, I'd try to align it with items on their registry and fit with the interior home decor colors on their registry

Who cares if someone thinks it's tacky. They don't need to know where the gift came from. If they love it, they love it.
