A third bomb was ready on August 16th, and was scheduled to be dropped on august 19th. 2 more bombs were being assembled with the order to be dropped as soon as possible. Luckily Japan Emperor declared Japan surrender on August 16th.
Germany was lucky they surrendered on May 7th (1945), before USA had atomic bombs ready (first test was Trinity in July), otherwise they would have received some bombs.
Bombs killed more than 226000 people, almost all civilian. THAT is a crime against humanity. USA dropped the bombs NOT to avoid deaths, they did to show the world that they had them and were not afraid to use them, giving them an incredible power to make they will.
Nazis had a project to create atomic bombs and it was leaded by Heisenberg (one of the fathers of Quantum Mechanics) , so it was a real possibility that they could have atomic bombs first, win WWII and put the world under the Nazi regime. Atomic bombs should had never been used against a country with no possibility to develop atomic weapons like Japan at that time.
