Even goldfish need a huge tank. They can get over a foot long and live for close to 20 years when properly taken care of.

Bruh even carnival goldfish need a proper tank. As a matter of fact, they need a much larger tank than a betta does. Goldfish poop A LOT and need plenty of gallons to act as a buffer. A word of advice from one fish keeper to anyone else looking to get a fish: set up your tank at least a week before getting your fish. That will give it time to establish a healthy, stable microbiome that will keep your fish healthy. Also, use live plants; your tank should be more plant than fish.

Just a heads up for anyone and everyone interested in beta fish, they require a MINIMUM of 5 gallons. Males can NOT be house together but can cohabite with other fish as long as the fish have places to hide from the beta. Female beta can live together, but it is not recommended.
Betas NEED a heater and their water should be around 70°F . Make sure your water is cycled before adding in your fish otherwise it will not be able to survive.
Also, betas do sleep and rest. If they're laying on something, they might just be sleeping. Dont panic unless their eyes are completely white or they actually look deceased. 💙

Goldfish are also super high maintenance, they are small at the carnival because they are young and probably malnourished, but they grow to be huge

And it wasn't her decision or fish to say what kind of tank it should be in. She could.
Do what she wants with her animals.But don't try to tell other people what to do with theirs and take it upon yourself to just do what you wand.

Yeah something kinda like that happened to my betta,(,around 15-13 years ago) my mom's now ex friend thought she knew better then me about how to care for my fish, and while I was at school she decided to change his water because it looked dirty to her(I changed it a few days before and) and the water she used was dirty tap water, not the water that we get for him as he has his own water we get... and when I came home he was dead and I was historically crying because he was like 2 years old or so at the time and was the oldest living fish I ever had and I wanted him to be around for years to come... so I was so upset.
My mom's friend thinking this would comfort me, said she changed the water because it looked dirty and I was being over dramatic about a fish... something she also said "you can just get a new one, I don't see the problem as I already said sorry"
I never talked to her the same way again. I was always distant and cold to her unless she wanted me to watch her dog, which I loved her dog(was a sweet dog he died of old age years ago)

This reminds me of something. Years ago I was off to visit my parents, but my roommate stayed home that weekend. To be nice, he decided to clean the fish tank (the home of my beloved telescope goldfish, Simon & Garfunkel) even though it wasn’t needed. Prior to leaving our apartment, I deep cleaned the bathroom tub. Where did he decide to put them when he cleaned the tank? In the tub. I didn’t think I had to tell him, if he does that (cleaning), to not put the fish in there. He then went to put them back, but they were dead already… I assume from the chemicals I used to clean it prior to leaving, or it was just a bad temperature for them… or simply shock. I was so furious and sad. Haven’t had any fish since. Maybe I’ll give it a go since I don’t have a roommate that will go rogue like that anymore 😅 I accepted the apology but was super bummed

I work at a pet store that sells betta fish and customers think a small bowl is enough. While it might work they wouldn't be happy or thrive. And I am goldfish are the ones that need cold water. I think betta fish need warmer water

Oh hell no!!!! Auntie better be in witness protection before I get back home, cuz I'd loose my shit so bad!!! This is literally un excusable. Auntie got to go! Weather that be out of the house or straight to hell, that would depend if I ever find her
