Love mountain biking but never once have I thought to myself ”Man I really wish my feet were stapled to these peddles possibly making it very hard for me to put my legs down to embrace for impact” perhaps that’s just me but I’ve never had my feet fly off the pedal in any catastrophic way.
Unrelated mostly but in high school I lost a friend to a snowmobiling across ice incident where he was SEATBELTED TO HIS SLED, hit some open water and assumingly it immediately sunk to the bottom and he was unable to free himself they recovered his body still clipped in to the snowmobile 😔
I mean I wear seatbelts in cars of course but otherwise I don’t EVER want to be strapped to something. Unicycle bikes skateboards even roller blades kinda (despite being strapped to your feet) all of have a decent way of bailing out of dange
