Did this once. Turned out it was a deaf person, typing through a teletype system and a translator and I was talking to the translator. So for me to relay instructions I had to tell the translator and she had to type in the teletype system then wait for the customer to respond. On top of that the customer typed at about....1 letter per minute. It was VERY slow. An hour later my manager comes and asks why I'm still there.
I explain the situation. She gets this concerned "oh no" look and tells me don't forget to put in for ot. I'll approve it. She wad a good boss.

At my job we stop answering at 4:50. It’s the best 10 minutes of our day 😂

So once upon a time, I performed tech support in a call center environment. There was an expectation that we would stay available all the way to the end of shift. Meaning, instead of wrapping up in your last 30 minutes, they wanted you to be available for a call because they claimed it would rarely happen. Ask me how often I complied. What I would do was get out 10 minutes in. That or leave a call back until late, knowing it wouldn't take more than a couple of minutes. Colleagues that did comply got stuck all too often.
