Lance is an unstoppable wall. Used by knights to kill dragons, fits well in monster hunter for killing monsters.

During the counter charge animation when you let go and get hit during the animation you can actually get a double hit strike that does a lot of damage

Yeah, people that main Lance have been Mixed on it.
Most of the old play styles have been nerfed.
High Thrusr seems like it needs a press sbf hold mechanic where it works the same as in wilds but you can hold down high thrust to perform counter thrust but just pressing high thrust will just perform high thrust.
Lastly leaping thrust is much slower and feels sticky and only does 2 hits instead of 3

As a lance main since MHGU, and after second Beta test, I do like lance moveset. Main downside is its slow and clunky feeling, but I Hope in full game, there will be some extra move options to make it faster. Overall - great wall.

Honestly, even though the Lance moveset is reworked, I’m pretty ok with it. As far as testing it myself, looks like the mid thrust and triple thrust finisher are going to be the basic high damage combo, though there is one that does more with a little more commitment. That would be a high thrust, then wide-sweep, then mid thrust and triple poke combo finisher. I think most would stick to the mid thrust combo though.
Additionally, what I wished Capcom did with the moves was: keep the regular guard how it is in Wilds and replace the power guard with the counter guard from World. They already put an inbuilt “Guard-Up” function into the Lance, which was awesome.

What if focus mode hit a wound it will jam the lance into the wound use it as a ledge to jump on, then smash the shield on to the monster, pretty bad ass ngl

Never mind, now it is basically just the old counter thrust with more skill expression/reward.
on a side note, with all the weapons getting better at standing their ground/countering i was really hoping lance would get more flashy attacks with a theme. Like attcks similar to it's old mhgu drill like attacks for example.... Welp at least we got one new flashy move in the community update video.
Lance tipp: Since Power guard blocks 360° and allows you to go into the speed boosted dash attack via follow up rush, you can turn your character towards where the monster is goin to be, power guard and use follow up rush to quickly close the gap

The Lance is the third most used weapon from the beta so I wouldn't really call it "underused".

Its a whole new weapon. Gameplay changed. Know i have to start learning from scratch... after more then 20 years using the lance.....

If you hit circle (on ps5) the 3rd or 4th one actually puts you in a counter guard
