Since they're already there, why not just tie another from the single top plate to the joist, that way, they'll all be tied together. Or leave what you have and runs straps from the single top plate to the double top plate so they'll all be mechanically tied together.

Isnt the wall assembly connected through sheathing, the beam and another single top plate? The code section doesn't say double top plate it says wall assembly
