7월 14일 함안경찰서에 따르면 지난 4월 17일 오후 1시 10분께 함안군 칠원읍 한 교차로에서 60대 A(여)씨가 몰던 SUV 차량이 앞에 있던 승용차를 추돌하는 사고가 발생했다.
추돌 이후 차량은 약 1.3㎞를 질주하다 교통표지판을 충격한 뒤 주변 논에 전복됐다. 충격 당시 시속은 약 165km로 파악됐다.
이 사고로 A씨는 갈비뼈가 골절됐고, 함께 차에 타고 있던 2세 손녀도 다쳤다.
A씨는 차량의 급발진 사고를 주장했지만, 최근 국립과학수사연구원은 차량에서 별다른 결함을 발견하지 못했다는 내용의 정밀 감정 결과를 보내왔다.
국과수는 EDR(사고기록장치) 등 분석 결과 사고 직전 가속 페달을 작동했을 가능성이 있다고 추정했다.
경찰은 운전자 과실 여부 등을 추가 조사할 계획이다.
