Farming is a members' gathering skill, through which players grow crops by planting seeds at farming patches. Different types of seeds can be planted at corresponding types of farming patches, which are found throughout RuneScape. Before a farming patch can be used, players must often clear away any weeds that have grown in it with a rake, which can be placed on the tool belt or used from the inventory. Tool leprechauns are found at nearly every farming patch in the game. Players can store and later withdraw 6 basic farming tools from them.
The player-owned farm is an activity that allows players to manage their own livestock at Manor Farm north of East Ardougne. Players can start maintaining their livestock by speaking to Granny Potterington at the farm north of Ardougne, requiring level 17 Farming and level 20 Construction.

Completing the tutorial allows players to purchase deeds for livestock pens. To purchase deeds, players must interact with Granny Potterington and upon selecting the Farmers' Market option the deeds, as well as other products for sale, are displayed and available for purchase. The purchasing currency is beans.

After having purchased a deed the player can then build an animal pen at the animal pen hotspot using Construction materials. Pens are of sizes small, medium, and large. A player can have a maximum of two of each size pen. Once a pen has been built players then place baby livestock in the pens where the animals grow and breed. Players assess, diagnose, and treat ill animals, stock feeding troughs, and clean the animal's pens.

The types of livestock that players can raise are: rabbits, chickens, chinchompas, sheep, spiders, zygomites, cows, yaks, and dragons. Animals have a "checked" and "unchecked" state. Unchecked animals can be banked and stack in the player's bank. Once an animal is checked it will no longer stack in the bank and will have unique stats and traits. #Playerownedfarm #farmingtips

Dragons are livestock that can be raised and bred at Manor Farm once unlocked at level 92 Farming. They can be kept in large pens, which can be built at level 60 Construction, or the breeding pen, which can be built at level 55 Construction. Large pens have a capacity of three animals each, and breeding pens have a capacity of four animals. Dragons can be obtained by breeding or as a rare drop from killing the respective chromatic dragons. The King Black Dragon and Queen Black Dragon drop black dragon eggs; royal dragon eggs can only be obtained through breeding. The large pens will need to be unlocked from the Farmers' Market before being able to build the pen.
