As a kid diwali was my favorite. I was always excited to make diy and decorate my home . But since 2 years diwali is not diwali for me anymore due to the trauma my mother gave me on diwali . I neither decorate my house nor i make any diy . I don't even burst small crackers like fuljhadi or anar for which i used to be so excited as a kid . I just sit in my balcony and view people having fun with their family . These diy videos near diwali make me remember my childhood as well as my trauma . I hope i can heal one day and feel that excitement again for the festival that was once my favorite.

Is saal, I’m stepping away from the usual rush to make my own lantern, inspired by a childhood memory with my mom reminiscing ‘Pehle jaisi Diwali.’ Kyunki festivals toh aise moments se hi khaas bante hain! Haina? Aapka favourite Diwali tradition kya hai?
Here’s how I made my lantern:
1. Sabse pehle, I cut out the base frames using thin cardboard (I’ll post the link here for the template ).
2. Phir I used a self-adhesive metallic gold sheet to join all the frames together.
3. For the middle frames, I used colored vellum paper (I’ll share a link for this).
4. On the vellum, I traced a simple mandala pattern using a gold pen (I’ll post the pattern in my stories). I then attached the vellum with the mandala to the base using fabric glue.
5. Uske baad I joined all the base pieces together with the help of cello tape.
6. Last me at the bottom, I made frills using colored vellum sheets and stuck them on with fabric glue.
And just like that, the lantern is ready! 🏮
