Great movie, great characters, great actors ... but to also teach morals and values that still stand strong today an amazing accomplishment

Still one of the best movies. Just showed it to my 5 year old recently and she loved it. Its a timeless story about a loving father who gained the son he lost and a son gaining the loving father he never had. What a good story.

And actually pretty accurate in the karate part, most of the movements are actually real and Sensei Miyagi was a real person

This movie changed the world in a good way. Miyagui was the new Yoda. In every country, everybody knows this movie and respects it. You can go to Brazil, to the ghettos in Venezuela, to anybody in Africa or Middle East. You can ask Al Queda about karate Kid wax on wax off and they are going to smile.
