I havent seen OP at all, but I think this design would step on the toes of other characters fitting the "battle oriented" role, Nami gives me more trickster vibes than someone who will punch you really hard

Oh I absolutely love any type of concept art, it really shows personality to a character, and just helps us know what direction the character could have originally been going in

I like how both Nami and Sakura both seemed to have started with them both having really big axes and the author's changed their minds....
It was an era where the idea of a little girl having a huge weapon was popular....

The climatact is too unique for me ever wanting her using another weapon. Its made for Nami and using it with Zeus makes some fantastic panels

I like the final version more, Nami's weather powers are more linked to her character development.
Nami alone had a staff and was mostly self-serving. She made friends and Ussop with his limited skills made a staff with magic tricks . They broaden their horizons and get better technology and skills and bonds as a Pirate crew.

It wouldn’t make sense for Nami to have an axe with the role she plays in the Strawhats, as more of the intelligent trickster, who isn’t fighter oriented makes he one of the only characters in the Strawhats that can relate to Usopp, but I do wish Nami had this design minus the axe, it would’ve been so cool and went well how she tends to tinker and invent things so having a robotic arm would’ve been so interesting
