The same of shelters there" like" prisons because they are private own and they charged the city's $3.400 a month for each visitor !! But the vouchers are only $ 2.700 and there's 21 visitor for room so they accept anybody no matter there mental condition.

This is one of those news where you feel dumbfounded when you hear it. You start to question it thinking "oh it can't be true! That can't really be happening in 2024", but unfortunately it is, much to our disliking and many times unawareness of such atrocities.

Very California, this big business of private jails.
Boutique lockups. Private, small, unmarked, scattered. Who supervises them? Who's responsible for inmates? Is it worth the cost to incarcerate them?

Wachenhut ran many prisons. The whole Dept of Corrections from the Federal level to the municipality level have different layers involved. From many Judges, Congressman and private companies who have a financial incentive to keep the number one country in the world with the highest incarceration rate.
