Light is Right
It isn't really possible to explain how much better a light car is to drive. It's something you have to experience first-hand behind-the-wheel to understand.
And once you do, everything finally makes sense.

I wish i could afford an Elise. Such a beautiful machine, and a raw driver's car.

My '17 Fiat 124 only has about 180hp at around 2,400lbs. Paired with it's 6spd stick, it's the most fun car I've owned.

Test drove an '05 Elise. Actually felt fast. Handling feel -off the charts!
Had an MR2-S at the time. With only 138 hp.But it weighed only 2,195 lbs. And was a blast to drive. So the Elise at 200 lbs less and 40% more hp? Felt very fast.
Less weight and less isolation= more fun.

I am in the honest belief that no street legal car can be compared to a Lotus Elise. Even if people remove parts in their car to make it similarly lightweight, I think nothing matches the driving feeling of these machines.

The most FUN I’ve ever had in a car was a 1999 Acura EL/1999 Honda Civic 5 speed manual. 127 HP. Slow as hell. But I drove it like I stole it every time. The VTEC hit on both exhaust manifold and intake manifold. So yes deep K&N filter suction noises woke up the 1.6litre VTEC. It was fun because it was light weight, lowered on coil overs. Red with black wheels. Sure I was a young 25 year old exploring my first modified car. And I used all 127 HP it was GREAT.

I stepped up to a 2007 Acura TL 3.2 V6 auto. Sure it was a lot faster at 260 HP but the only time I’d use the power was late at night on a lonely high way. And it was a great car, just not as fun.

As much as it's cool that the Elise is so lightweight - a 3,000 pound car that has 300 hp and let's say 250 lb ft would probably still beat the Elise even on a track. Unless the track was incredibly twisty - and I could be wrong but I don't think it even revs high for more fun. Granted, it is a very old car, so there's that
