Dexcool (orange) mixed with conventional (green) antifreeze. There is universal orange antifreeze that can be mixed with conventional, but not all orange antifreeze is universal.

The silicate dropped out of the antifreeze. People just donβt change the antifreeze every 3 years. They look at it and see itβs green and maybe test the freeze point. That can all be okay but it still needs to be changed every 3 years.

I've seen this on cars I've dismantled before.

Sodium silicate. Someone tried to seal the head gasket or cracked head, and added too much. A blend of incompatible coolants don't look like this. Above 212-220F, it rejects water and becomes a ceramic glaze. It is also a flocculant, as in making things settle out of solution, contaminating the glaze. Someone added sodium silicate to a dirty cooling system without flushing it first.
