And people paying for college mean while he got a free education, not from a professor reading out of a book but from an experienced professional. Invaluable experience for him

I’ve been a residential carpenter for 20 years. I’m good at what I do and have a positive attitude and get along with all the other sub and I’m pretty much the face of the company being I’m on sight all day. I live in an affluent area and I think we get a good portion of our work because people we have a good reputation and customers are comfortable having me in their home for a month at a time. This might sound crazy but I’m thinking of switching gears. I think I’d like to start up my a power washing / soft wash company. I think it’s it something that would be easier to pass down to my kids. Would you be willing to have me follow you around and work for the week for free and show me the ropes? I live in the northeast so you won’t have to think of me as a competitor. I’d appreciate it if you’d give it some thought. Thank you

Can you make a video of how much bleach or detergents you need to put into a tank or 5 gallon bucket to pressure wash or soft wash houses/driveways? I’m a little lost

I'd work for free to learn a trade. Apprentiships have been around for centuries, and people stand in line to get an opportunity.
As an employer. I've had someone offer to work for free to show his abilites. I started him at my base wage and told him that he was either worth that wage to me, or he would be standing in the way. I wouldn't think that it would take a couple of months to feel comfortable enough to start a washing business.

Oscar is did! Nothing is wrong with learning something new or you are curious to know if you have an interest you should try it out.

He got the better deal for sure.

You taught him to fish and that was well worth the sweat equity.

Most people in your shoes not only take the free labor as part of the training but they also charge 1 or 2K for the time invested.

I believe either is fine…because the learning curve has just been straightened out for this guy, he got a great deal.

Teaching costs time which costs money.
Ironically I was actually wanting to do similar but not successful in finding a mentor early on.
In fact, i even contacted you but you didn't seem to want to take up the offer at the time. This was a year ago. But it's ok. Glad it worked out for him.
