Yeaaaaah this is a real thing. If you’re late on your mortgage (or your landlord is late on their mortgage) they’ll send someone out to do an occupancy check. They don’t have to “look like they’re from the bank” either. They just look like normal people. If it’s reported as vacant like 5 times they’ll send people out to winterize it and change the locks. And then this guy ^ would probably go back and go inside and take pics of every room, every ceiling every floor and any damage in the property. BUT you’re not exactly supposed to make contact. When I did it we just drove past and took a pic. If the person saw and said something I was just supposed to tell them to call their bank. But you can usually tell if it’s occupied… like the grass will be cut. Current holiday decorations will be up, lights on, toys in the yard. Something.
