Gold leaf averages 1/7000 of a millimeter (3.5 millionths of an inch)and generally comes in 3 1/8 inch by 3/18 “ sheets. They measure their weight in 1000 sheets the thinnest weigh about 12 grams per thousand and the heaviest 50 grams per thousand. Once gold is sheeted it’s extremely hard to get it back into bulk sizes as it’s so thin. A one ounce pure gold coin could be flattened to make a 10 foot by 15 foot sheet. So yes it would take a lot of gold leaf to make the scale move especially one that only measures to the tenth of a gram like yours.
