This song holds a special place in my heart. My daughter who struggles with autism, delays, type 1 diabetes, severe and numerous food allergies and tourettes syndrome sang this song for her senior expo before graduation. She wore her letterman jacket (she lettered twice in HS) and she tore the jacket off to reveal a T shirt where she had written in large sharpie "depression, anxiety, bullying, expectations, inner voice, failure, success" and all of her conditions. The audience erupted in applause and cheers when she did. It was a very emotional moment for me because she was always well loved, always made honors grades despite what she fought against and everyone knew her. She was first chair violin her whole life and she was in plays and I didn't realize how hard she was struggling with her inner demons 😢
