Other pairings i like to Rule 0 allow are Meld commanders. As long as at least 1 piece is a legendary creature, both pieces can be commander

I had some friends who built two decks with these guys. They were full of cards that were really powerful but gave one of your opponents something (think humble defector ) then they'd just play like they were on a team (whilst still technically being opponents) and call it a draw when they were the last ones standing.

Such a neat card! I bought a bunch of cards from a buddy shortly after I started playing and didn't even understand the legend rule at the time lol! He had the two and I just thought they were unique to his deck.

I actually have a commander deck based around those two it's kind of janky but it's fun and you are correct they are the first two actual well not legitimate but according to all of us players they're actually commanders

I'm thinking it's not about them it was about the samurai type due the kamigawa sets had a good number of them for you to build and have an instruction manual rolled in to one list.

They probably should errata the card twice, once for partner and another for being able to run two of it.
Also the ruling around abilities that let you many copies of a card are very funny even if unintentionally due to how literal the text could be taken.

I loved those guys honestly. That was one of my last decks I played when champions came out before quitting the first time.
