This needs to become an anime. A mother divorces her husband and her son seeks comfort in anime. But after she goes missing, the father regains custody of the son. However, whenever he tries to interact with his aloof son, he gets brushed off. So, in order to reconnect with his son, he does the only thing he can: watch anime in hopes of gaining something in common with him. Prozd could probably voice one or all of the characters.
