I have a very Simple Ionic Thruster design-- for you to test...
Requires 10 ( X-Acto) Razor-blades.. arrange in a Trapezoid pattern-- from the side view..
With the Larger side being the intake & the small side being exhaust. Held together by the sides.
We're the Air intake has x2 to x3 the size as the exhaust..
(With the exhaust side spacing around 1/8 inch)
And a simple 3/8 to 1/2 wire gap-- for the Negative side.. like your Ionic thruster.
I believe there would be an Increase in performance & Efficiency; If, there was a (electric) Fan, in the Front, to help make the Air more Dense.. (/compressed)
(Or another slightly larger Ion thruster plate in front-- as an Air Sealed Unit.)
I think Air Density is key to Improving thruster performance.
Also, I kind of wonder how much the Size of the Positively charged plates-- help Attract Negatively charged Molecules in the air-- into the Ion engine.?. 🤔
