I do not think anyone should hate themselves for their appearance. Realizing you aren't healthy because you're obese isn't hating yourself. I'm too thin, I got sick and lost a bunch of weight last year. I don't love my body more now, I realize I'm not in a healthy place like this either.

How does it not promote obesity when the side of the debate this woman is on is literally assembled on the basis of being fat?
I do kinda get some of what they're trying to say. To not hate yourself based on looks until you reach a healthy weight, to not find yourself in the circle of 'I don't believe I'll ever stop being fat, because I believe I'm worthless, because I'm fat'. That way a poor opinion on yourself based on being fat can be qn obstacle in losing weight. That's what the idea was supposed to be, but it grew into denying the problem.
I'd sum it up with something I heard a guy comment on the radio as a response to a similar issue: It's ok not to be ok. It's not ok not to do anything to be ok'.
