“So this part I did a little better than Papa,” says @ichiragpaswan, reflecting on his efforts to reunite his family after 44 years of separation. In 2022, the Union Minister of Food Processing and @ljp.india leader visited his stepmother, Rajkumari Devi, in Shaharbanni village of Khagaria, accompanied by his mother, Reena Paswan, and other family members. This visit marked the reunion of the two wives of the late Ram Vilas Paswan, who had been separated for decades.

In July 2021, during Chirag Paswan’s visit to Rajkumari Devi, reported by News18, Rajkumari Devi expressed her support for Chirag, saying, “Why do you think you are alone? We are with you.” The visit came after Chirag’s uncle, Pashupati Kumar Paras, rebelled against the party.

Ram Vilas Paswan had two marriages. His first marriage was with Rajkumari Devi when he was 14 and she was 13. They had two daughters together. Rajkumari Devi resides in his ancestral village, Shaharbanni. His second marriage was with Reena Paswan, with whom he had one son, Chirag, and one daughter. After this, Ram Vilas Paswan rarely, if ever, visited his village. Following his death, the already divided family became even more fractured when his brother, Pashupati Paras, rebelled against the party, joined the government as a minister, and left Chirag Paswan isolated.

Chirag Paswan visited Rajkumari Devi during the Bihar Legislative Assembly elections and has reportedly maintained contact with her since.
