Spoilers ahead read at your own risk but if you're on this reel.... The twist isn't the shocking part. The scene at the end on the stairs is bc it leaves you wondering how long Teddy knew. Obviously he was sick and Sir Ben mentions they've done the role play before to success before he relapses. So did he ever actually relapse or was Teddy just putting a show like they were for him. Was the lobotomy procedure always his endgame.

I feel like this is one of Scorseseās most under appreciated (and depending on who you ask) most hated. But itās a brilliant homage to Hitchcock, from the POV of an unreliable narrator. SPOILER: His final words to Ruffalo about whether itās better to die as a good man, or to live as a monster is so great. Itās been added to the lexicon of famous Scorsese quotes for good reason. Second viewing reveals the brilliance of it all!
