Since the rules define a monster as any creature the dm controls, it's possible the subclasses meant for npcs will be in the monster manual!

Death domain probably won’t be missed much, but Oathbreaker was great for the classes theming and gave an interesting consequence for betraying your oath imo. Honestly it should’ve been in the PHB instead of the DMG in the first place

I literally started a homebrew campaign last Thursday (every other week), and we opted to convert to 2024 rules. I have a Death Cleric and War Mage. It's not hard to convert. Just make sure any subclass abilities that used to trigger before level 3 now come online at Level 3.
