It’s so interesting being able to look at geologically recent events separating two populations and say: “You’ll be different species in time”.
Gives perspective on how long history really goes.

I once read that birds can occasionally introduce fish to a new ecosystem by having fertized fish eggs stuck to their talons when they land in a new water source or when a caught fish wiggles loose from their grasp.

Great content, but her audio is distracting. Too high pitched, very sharp /s/ sounds

Please use a mic! Even a cheap one would be better than nothing. I can't understand with the echoing voice. The Youtube captions are ok, but the captions put on the video by Scishow are blurry/low res.

That's not the only possible explanation (although it might be the most parsimonious). People stock lakes with fish all the time.

Maybe less interesting for the biologists but here we use magnetometers to map old riverbeds. I live at a delta which is mostly pure quartz and abandoned river channels keep the remnants of iron minerals that the river dropped.

Interesting!
(By the way, if you record in a less echoing space, and leave a hair of space between words, your presentation will reach more people.)

Mataura is pronounced more like mah-TOW-rah, and trill the r slightly. The dipthong au is pronounced somewhat like the English "oh" but with a long ah sound beginning it.

Chances those fish will have a chance to evolve without massive disruption by human activity has gotta be 0.1%

Hey. I've loved this show for a long time. People here are great! CAN WE PLEASE LAV MIC THESE PPL! As part of their onboard care package, hook them up with some lapel mics! We deserve it, and they deserve it. I'm sick of getting A+ content with D- audio. Do better Kratt brothers ((JK, I love you)((and also the Kratt bros.)(All hail Zoboomafoo!)!)!)
