They wash clothes but in a different way. My grandmother had a machine that had a rubber bladder that would basically squeeze in and compress the clothes in the water then expand to pull the water through the clothes. Never seen anything like it since.

I have the one without the agitator because my clothes were getting stuck on it - it sucks!!!!!!!! Half the time the laundry cannot be spun properly and all the drain water remains inside. Do not buy it!!!!!
