From year 2024 onwards there is major change in Dates to file Income tax Return, there are 2 dates to file ITR
1) 31st July (for original ITR) - you can opt both new and old regime till this date
2) 31st December (For Belated ITR) - you can only opt New regime
July is most important month if you are income earning person and your income is more than the basic exemption limit then it is mandatory for you to file Income Tax Return till 31st July every year and in case you miss the deadline to file income tax return you have to bear consequences of late filing :
After 31st July:
1) only New Regime can be opted, old regime is not allowed after 31st July
2) Losses cannot be carry forward
3) in case Tax is payable you have to pay Extra interest as per delay in filing
