Gary, you're planting trees under whose shade you might not sit. Old habits die hard, and it will take a lot of time and effort to reach enough people to change things. People don't like change, and they tend to want to believe it will work out if they're just patient. But you've got to keep going. It will happen in its own time and in its own way. All you can't do is sow the seeds, and what is going to grow will grow.

I actually think inequality and absolute capitalism is leading to something close to slavery where peasants have to beg the rich and work in their firms for menial wages only to afford a hand-to-mouth lifestyle.
The new monarchs and dukes own Tech companies, run hedge funds and work in central banks.

Thanks Gary. My ❤ feels your pain and I share it. I also share the hope. I've asked my local library to order your book so I and many others can read it. I really hope they order it!! We can do this together. Together we can and we will because ordinary people will eventually see the light and ordinary people will NOT accept those types of living standards.

I totally respect and agree with Gary's campaign. There are others working toward the same end. Tax Justice UK, with even the Patriotic Millionaires supprting the idea. Prof Richard Murphy, who understands the difficulty of taxing wealth, as assets can be hidden and some are harder to value - also values may change. His immediate answer is simple and workable: tax the income from wealth (such as share dividends etc) at the same rate as work income. We could then reduce tax for the lower paid to mitigate inequality and stimulate the economy.

I disagree with this notion that taxing the rich will massively redistribute the wealth. The richest in society already pay a very high proportion of tax, and if you tax them to death you will get capital flight where people invest in lower tax, overseas options. This is exactly what happened in the 2010s when the French govt under Hollande instituted a wealth tax - overall tax revenue declined. I absolutely agree that tackling inequality is important, but taxing rhe rich is not the answer. The only way to redistribute wealth is to create wealth in the first place, which is achieved through creating a low-tax, business friendly economy.

I fully support the idea of a wealth tax but think there is something very cheap we could do that could have an equal if not bigger impact. Since the people who are elected to represent us don't have to have any understanding of economics, huge amounts of money are wasted each year due to bad economic choices (think Kwasi Kwarteng and Liz Truss). Perhaps the biggest single thing we could do as a nation is to make it compulsory that once elected for our politicians to have to have some basic training in economics by talented individuals such as yourself so they better understand the economic reality of the decisions they make.

To be clear when this guy means rich he doesnt mean Grandma with a nice house, good saving and a strong pension he mean the multi, multi millionaires/billionaires.
