Yeah its a way to think, essentially you play the locrian #2 on m7b5 chord and the superlocrian on G7 (dominant) wich are both modes of the melodic minor scale of course

I have a question about the Dom7 or the G7 chord in this case...in C Minor.
Isn't G7b9 instead of just a G7 a better fit for playing the Ab melodic scale?
You suggested playing Ab melodic Minor and the G7b9 sound so much better.
