The way your muscles popped when you did that curl with the buckets of food really helped prove your point 💪

That was an impressive bicep curl! I was in the garden today moving and using 5 gallon buckets of alfalfa/wood pellet mash for a few hours (I'm letting it decompose to use as compost) and mama mia! I think I'm gonna feel it tomorrow! 😂😅

Great job chica! Just a handy tip from a professional chef: we put labels on the side of a container rather than the top for easy viewing in storage. Good luck!

Saving $70 sounds incredible but when considering buying in bulk to save money, keep in mind that you also have to pay for storage space and storage supplies. Those food safe buckets and sealing lids are an initial start-up cost of like $5-10/bucket, as shelving could be, and all the oxygen absorbers and mylar bags etc people are suggesting in the comments to avoid bugs and staling cost $ as well. And it's still a bit of an added risk of losing some of your purchase. I love buying in bulk for myself but I'm really really careful about which things make sense for us to buy in bulk, and I don't think I saved much $ overall for the first year or two I started, for the reasons stated above. :/

Those need to be stored in a root cellar or a very cold place or else you will start hatching bugs and lose the whole bucket. Also would be good to put in oxygen absorbers as well.

I have heard other homesteaders say put your bags in the freezer first to kill off any bugs that may have came in there . Hope this helps 😊❤

I love Azure but it’s important to know that you have to be available to show up at the drop site whatever day and whatever time of day the truck will be arriving. It is not a set time or date and you find out through email a few days ahead of time. Also, some people drive over an hour from their home to the closest drop site. Also, ordering something doesn’t necessarily mean you will get it unless you place your order right before the cutoff time. If you ordered 12 things 2 weeks before the cutoff, it’s possible that they will run out of 5 of those things by the time your order is shipped.

Using Mylar liners, using oxygen absorbers, and vacuum sealing/hermetically sealing will keep your products fresher/prevents oxidation/ and kills off any bugs before they become an issue.

My mother did the same and showed us how much money we saved, so my brother and I knew how to buy mindful too. ❤

Winco grocery stores have oats in 25lb bags and you can order almost anything they have in their bulk section by talking to the bulk vrea manager. They also carry the 5 gallon buckets with the gamma lids

Definitely need the screw on the lids. That’s what keeps the pests like pantry moths out.

I love that you sealed them so well, I was thinking “one grain bug could ruin this whole thing”

50 lbs of azure oats lasts my 3 teen/preteens 2 months, max. 😭 I feel blessed to be able to provide it though!

We always used to buy in bulk, but we would get pantry moths hatch out in our food. Even when it was sealed. I guess the eggs were already on the grain? We live in a pretty hot climate.

I use resealable 5 gallon Mylar bags in my buckets. I have been using the same bags for 6 years now and they are still in perfect condition.

I love those 5 gallon buckets! I use one for flour for my kitchen, and now I'm not constantly refilling a flour jar! ❤ I like the oats too, because the quaker oats controversy makes me nervous 😬
