How come they didn't do something about minimising the noise? They know that red pandas easily startle and get stressed even by stones they often see. It shouldn't be the fireworks that need restriction. The zoo should have procedures to protect them when there are fireworks.

While I totally agree that the trauma to animals from fireworks is absolutely terrible, surely the fact that the mother died just days before has more to do with why her baby also died, whether from the stress of missing the mother or maybe even from a shared underlying medical condition? It doesn’t sound as though they’ve done a necropsy on either animal.

The firework connection is a possibility, however animals kept in captivity are already stressed by not being in their natural environment. It's mother had died a few days before, might have been a virus

To be fair (I’m gonna sound like a boomer now but I’m only a millennial!) when I was a kid bonfire night was the 5th of November no matter what day that fell on and if u couldn’t do it that night u missed it that year.
Round here we’ve had fireworks nearly every night since the start of October, hardly any on 5th but loads every other night and every week end.
I think they should make them for displays only not the public. I hate to think how frightened all the animals are
