In this video, I demonstrate how resonant antennas which are cut to specific lengths, are able to light up LEDs, if you transmit on their resonant frequencies. For those who want an expanded description on how to build one of these antennas, please watch this video.

You read my mind about something.. I didn't think the camera's framerate would grab that. Just Beautiful! 😄

When I was maybe 12 back in the stone age, I pounded an old tent pole into the ground, connected to to one of those old earplug things in parallel with a diode, then to a long piece of wire. I listened to the local high-power AM radio station. It seemed like absolute magic. But, my Forrest Mimms books from Radio Shack were my inspirations.

Great stuff. In the early 1950s went to sleep listening with earphones to AM network music on a crystal set. On my favorite station, Hawaiian music was playing at my bedtime. Funny how familiar I was with every tiny spot on the crystal, and where to put the cat's whisker for best reception.

This is brilliant! For such short videos you craft an immense amount of valuable information. You’re an Amateur Extra-Ordinary!

I grew up in the early 90s late 80s, you remind me of my dad, he was skilled with everything from electricity to motors, by day he was a carpenter to support hisfamily but by night he was everything else, we mostly worked on my dirtbike motor and we would mess with the cb scanner and radio, it was so fun.

Well, I guess this is my Sunday now. I'm sure this will blow my friends minds. I wish they still taught analog things like this in the EE curriculum.

Reminds me of those radio-powered LED stickers that were on every girl’s phone for about a week in 2004.

Lovely simple idea , my friend used to use small light torch bulb connected at centre of dipole near Transmitter to tune up amplifier, only works in close proximity though maybe not as sensitive as LED version shown

This was incredibly awesome. Could make an entirely passive Wi-Fi/wireless bug detector with these I suspect!

I wish I had more friends like you 😢 the general population just doesn't understand the physics and therefore cannot fully enjoy the Bliss of science.
