Years ago, I was flying home by myself, and in the seats next to mine were a young mother and her daughter, somewhere between a year to a year and half old. I think they were Chinese, and we did not have any language in common, but it was fine. Some things I remember include the kid in her seat staring at me curiously, with her hand on my arm on the armrest. She had a small pack of colored pencils, I think given by the airline, which she used to doodle, not really draw. Then she turned to me, and offered me the pencil she was holding. I accepted graciously. She then raised her arm and clearly wanted it back, so I gave it to her. That was pretty much how the flight went, not really playing with her, more like practicing basic human interaction. Later I drifted off to sleep and so did she. The only time I remember her crying was when the plane was landing, and she woke up with her ears probably hurting.

This video made me cry. Once on a flight to his Dad my son (1,5 at the time) ripped my hair.grabbed my glasses and had his 5 minutes when the gent on the window saw it and the gent in the middle needed to go to the bathroom he offered to hold my son, so i can let the one in the middle step out. Safe to say this Hero had no intention to hand me my overstimulated son back. (Just a FYI my son just started walking there and was fussy he had to sit down for over 20 Minutes in end 😅)..He had him on his lap for at least a good 30 Minutes until they announced the landing. Half a year later i am still so so thankful for this kind gesture, if for any reason whatsoever you read this sir, thank you so much again, you reall saved my day and made the little ones day as well! I remember how you Played with the window blind and acted as if my son got your fingers. He laughed his head off!
Bless you and also the sir in the middle for the nice conversation about our kids.

Yes, people, yes!!! This is how you help parents travel with children. You don't throw a childish tantrum as an "adult" when a child is upset on a flight that is counterproductive! Be the bigger person and offer help because I guarantee you if a child is struggling on a plane the parent/gardian is struggling more. Be kind!!!

Kindness and empathy wins. Period. As someone with SEVERE ear pain on takeoffs and landings (the longer the flight the worse the landing pain), these little cuties could be in real discomfort. Thank goodness for all of the kind people understanding that the parents are mortified and just need a little grace from those around them.
