I was a nine year old child when I first this in a movie theater, and I can tell you there wasn't a dry eye in the house. Even when the house lights were turned up there was a rapt silence in the auditorium as everyone filed out. I can't think of any major motion picture today with all the special effects and millions of $ thrown at the audience that can equal a response like that.

I really love Escape from the Planet of the Apes. The only moment when I laugh from the ridiculousness of it or groan from the schlock is right here at the last 5 seconds of it.
I think it could've been really emotional but they mucked it up with the cheesy forward and reversing of the same shot to make Milo's mouth move. Preeeeetty silly.

I think is kinda sad because the baby's mother died, and he will never know that his mother and father sacrificed their lives to give him a life that he deserved. Even though the Dad survived, the mother still died for her son.
