I’ve dislocated my shoulder - it hurts a lot, then the adrenaline kicks in and you feel fine for a while, but you have a mild terror as your arm is out of place, and the muscles around your rotator cuff tense up trying to fix it and get in their own way.
The doctor will give you some very nice pain meds, and then the gentle way of reducing your shoulder is to take two doctors (or nurses, whatever), each with a like sling around their waist, one sling goes to your elbow, the other goes to your torso, and they slowly walk apart till the shoulder muscles relax enough that the arm sort of springs back into place. That last part is an absolutely wild feeling.
Anyway, would not recommend.
Oh, and if for whatever reason you need to do it yourself, don’t slam your arm into a wall. Sit down, pull your knee up to your chest, wrap your arms around it, and slowly extend your leg to get the rotator cuff muscles to stretch out.

The worst thing about a dislocated shoulder is that if it’s not surgically repaired it can just slip out of place again, pretty much whenever. Usually because the circumstances are right, like trying to carry a rolled up mattress from the IKEA checkout to the car, but also just because it doesn’t like the way you’re laying down with that arm extended. I wish I had known that when it happened the first time instead of setting it myself.

Legit, I’ve dislocated my kneecap several times, and literally the lower leg/foot whatever it’s called once. If I for some reason had to choose I’d do the shoulder any day.
There is little pain due to adrenaline, and it’s weird feeling your body being dislocated, but the FREAKING SIGHT MAN. I had to go to exposure therapy for months, as I were terrified of crowds after the lower leg situation.
Can’t see the shoulder being dislocated as easily though, thanks for coming to my TED Talk, chads

I actually had to talk a buddy of mine through shoving my shoulder back in after I wiped out while trying to entertain kids. ^^; He called me Wolverine... lol I've had so many shoulder injuries though, that I barely even notice it anymore. It will hurt when it's out, and it will feel like a sharp tug when the muscle is seated... I won't lie to you that it'll go away instantly, but it does get better with ice and relaxation once it's back in.

Nah, I've dislocated both of my shoulders at the same time, not a big deal.
