Great result. I honestly prefer a little closer to 62 than 64, as the toughness drops off far faster than the edge retention increases beyond this point. Personally I mostly appreciate MagnaCut for being a balanced steel with superior corrosion resistance, and would probably rather just go with a different steel if I wanted significantly more edge retention than ~62 HRC MC.

Two of my favorite EDC knives are the Protech Malibu and Mordax. I have also heard that protech heat treats their MagnaCut steel to perfection. However no one reaches 64 hrc without cryo. I’m also thinking this test was a tad off due to the outlier, also appeared the testing was done on the angle 📐 of the flat grind, but I definitely could be wrong. I’d love for you to test again, as well as the Malibu or any other protech in MagnaCut. Also, if you actually read this, please send me a link to where you got that tester. Love your reviews btw

Hey boss. I’d love to see you get you hands on a Spartan Blade Harsey Folder. I have 2 at the 4.25 inch blade. They make them in 3.25 at a lower cost. But the Magnacut is damn nice here too. The blade angle on the SHF is roughly 22 degrees. It’s not a slicer at all but it’s F&€king work horse of an outdoors or tactical knife.
