Sir a quick correction. Nothing is free, we pay for healthcare in Canada in terms of HIGH TAXES!

Being someone who has suffered from fatty liver. Within 45 days the condition worsens very quickly. Within months if the condition is serious (fibrosis at any stage) it can accelerate to a life threatening situation. 4k is hardly 70 CAD. Add to it another 70 CAD for doctor consultation. Anytime quick treatment is better irrespective of how much it costs.

I am not being biased but India’s healthcare overall is Miles ahead in terms of delivery as compared to Canada or let us say even the USA. I do not have to worry about ‘ waiting’ and suffer in solitude in India. And I am talking about country with 1.5 Bn lives…

Friend’s daughter was sent home 2 times from emergency (after waiting in pain for 6 hour both time) with pain killer saying she just has gas in stomach. but reality was she had appendicitis. On third time they waited hours in pain in emergency and when they check with ultrasound, her appendix was rotten and she had few hours left before it can burst and she can die. That’s how horrible health system is here in case of emergency. 14 year old girl had to bear unimaginable pain for 2 days. In India I had severe pain at night, I went to hospital early morning and by 9am I was treated with surgery for appendicitis back in 2006. I had pain for few hours and I still remember how horrible pain was, this girl endured even more pain for 2 days, big chunk of them seating on chair in emergency area of
hospital. Same case happened with one of my known in Halifax, he was put on morphine for 2 days in pain because no surgeon was available at hospital.

Not everything is free. Many dental procedures like crown replacement, crown legthening etc. will cost an additional 500-1000$ or more out of pocket. Also, getting specialists appointment takes a long time. Many orher things cost money and are not fully covered by health insurance.

The healthcare system requires regulation, and feedback should be thoroughly analyzed. I have encountered a similar situation. I experienced urinary issues and required a catheter. Unfortunately, I had to wait four months for treatment. Subsequently, I sought medical attention in India, where the entire treatment, including surgery, was completed within two weeks.

In Canada, it is not free health care, it is universal health care. This means, everybody pays or gets deducted from their salary, but they all get the same level of treatment. Here rich or poor doesn't matter!

My sister got appointment with her gastroenterologist which was scheduled for 4 months which was April, then they rescheduled for September.... They are in the insurance... Which is USD 3500 then only they meet the deductibles... So this is the USA.😅

It depends on the medical situation, in your quoted situation you could afford to wait, but there are some conditions which need quick treatment and if you are in pain, what matters is only immediate relief. If someone has tooth pain, they would want the relief from pain now not after 4 months.

Moral of story. We need to send some doctors to Canada in the name of humanity..

depends on your situation. My father in law paid close to 50 lakhs in India for a pacemaker. In Canada after 10 years he got the surgery for free. He is a PR now and wait time was close to 1 month from diagnosis to treatment.

If your situation is not life threatening you have to wait. No two words about it.

Both are needed depending on situations. Sometimes chronic diseases can wait .. sometimes don’t . Mix of both should be there. Canada is better than USA
