I have read Every Man Dies Alone by Fallada. Great novel. I have at least two other novels by him on my Kindle in my massive TBR. I would say that many readers who read widely would have heard of him. My $0.02 into the jar.

Perhaps the editor should have taken the opportunity to pick up an author they hadn’t heard of, although he is in fact far from obscure 😅

I’m actually relieved in a way bc I thought the issue was going to be that you’d picked a German author based on a WWII book… that person needs to get a grip though, I love hearing about authors I’ve never heard of, especially when the online community can become such an echo chamber.

Also... isn't the point of, "If you liked this book, try. this one.." to introduce readers to books and authors they may have never heard of? I mean, isn't that the entire purpose of such a thing?
