She needs a good used car like a honda, toyota, etc. as her starter car. Kids need to learn that money does not grow on trees and that in this life you can't start at the top and have to work your way up. (Unless Mom and Dad just have an absolute mountain of money in the bank, which is a whole other conversation) Doing this, and other things, helps establish good financial principles for the rest of their life. So, you are correct as far as the type of message it could send.

If you really wanted to buy her a car something that gets you from A to B and in fair condition is good enough I recon. And even that's a blessing cause not all parents can even do that. I saved for mine my parents didn't buy mine but hey just saying

Get her a safe small car great on gas dependable with no bank note so that just starting out she will have a better shot at paying the insurance
