#janmashtami #jaishreekrishna #harekrishna #iskcon Shree Krishna Janmashtami is a Hindu festival celebrating the birth of Lord Krishna, the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu. This festival is celebrated not just in India but globally. In Vrindavan, where Krishna spent his childhood, temples like ISKCON and Banke Bihari hold special rituals. In Maharashtra, young men form human pyramids to break a pot of curd, symbolizing Lord Krishna’s playful and naughty nature. In Karnataka, locals act Ras Leela, known as Vittal Pindi, similar to Krishna’s divine play in Vrindavan. Eastern states like Odisha and West Bengal fast and offer regional sweets to baby Krishna. In Andhra Pradesh, devotees sing songs, and young boys dress up as lord Krishna. In Manipur, prayers are offered at the Shri Shri Govindajee temple, accompanied by Manipuri performances. In Gujarat’s Dwarka, the Dwarkadhish Temple is decorated lavishly. Women in Gujarat play cards, setting aside household duties for a day. In Jammu, the festival is known as Thakure da Vrat and in Kashmir, it’s celebrated as Zaram Satam. In Kerala, it’s known as Ashtami Rohini, and in Tamil Nadu, floors are decorated with kolams as part of the celebration. Pakistani Hindus celebrate it in Karachi’s Shri Swaminarayan Mandir. The festival is also celebrated in Nepal, Bangladesh, Mauritius, the United States, Malaysia, Fiji, Thailand, and many other countries. Jai Shree Krishna
