Hell with the price of cars now they should be good for at least 250,000 - 300,000 miles or more. 150,000 miles is honestly nothing.

150,000 miles? Way too low. Modern engines have pushed it to 200,000 to 250,000 miles, and some engine designs can last even longer.

All of these comments prove people are idiots. GM never gave estimated mileage. The engineer said 24/7 for 2 weeks at mostly WOT. IF that's close to 150k miles, then this engine will go 300k+, since it showed basically no wear inside. For a turbo engine, that's not so common without some major repairs, especially the timing chain and turbo.

150,000 miles on an engine is not what I expect. I expect over 300,000. And Iā€™ve gotten it it on my 96 Tahoe and 2000 Camaro SS.

150K is just an average 10 year old car (i.e. 2013).. I donā€™t think you see many cars that are taken care of that donā€™t see at least 250k before they need to be rebuilt. Seems like closer to 300k is when you start seeing it more common that they need to be rebuilt or major repairs to the engine (transmissions are a different story), but even then many can keep going past that point.

Like u guys said 150k is not alot but the wear of the engine looked good at 150k so its pretty good

I test drove a 2023 Silverado with the 2.7 turbo. Plenty of power to get up and go for the size of the truck. I was impressed by the 0-60. Not that it's fast but for only a 4 banger in that size it was good. Only reason I didn't purchase was you can hear the turbo whine all the time. Even at 30mph and even more at 70mph. Not just a little whine but really loud IMO.

You guys need to ask more questions when youā€™re with the engineer. How easy are engine components to get to when itā€™s in the truck like starter, alternator, injectors.

The main thing I'd be worried about is the turbo and transmission those are the biggest wear items most people are not rebuilding engines at 150 k.and if so it's because of lack of maintenance further more most aren't even rebuilding these days..

I would assume their definition of life time is the power train warranty period, 60K miles

AFM and Cylinder deactivation wonā€™t last 90 thousand miles. Did the engineer give you life expectancy on timing chain and cam phasers

Can someone from GM confirm itā€™s 150k. These are starting look like throw away engines.

150k miles? Sounds like GM šŸ˜‚. Hell, Toyota would say their engine is just broken in at that mileage. šŸ˜

So the warranty length is the answer

Has anyone heard of these GM 2.7 turbo engines reaching very high mileage without any issues?

Iā€™ve had two gm trucks over 280k with no problemsā€¦.canā€™t say the same for my Toyota and Hondas. The new Toyotas and Hondas arenā€™t the same ones from the 90s.

Ford did a video of thier torture test and it was the equivalent of several 100k miles. If Chevy engines are only meant to last 150,000 miles they are in serious trouble, even more so than they already are.
