I don't think Sony will ever make another dedicated handheld. Nintendo has the first party handheld market on LOCK, and both the mobile based and PC based handheld markets are absolutely SATURATED.
If they DID make a dedicated handheld, it would have to have full parity with the home console via cloud save sync so you could really play your games on the go. A standalone library would be a non-starter in this day and age, where handhelds are playing AAA console/PC titles.

I have an iPad and I want to try using remote play on it. I can use the iPad as a monitor and just carry around a controller. Would that be a good alternative to portal? What differences would there be?

I mean counter point to the portable argument, remind me again what's needed to run it? A ps5 and wifi, both in the same room. You're as portable as the wii u. That's not classified as portable, so neither is this.

You could always use a tablet and a controller. I donât see why you would limit yourself to a phone. Also playing on a PS portal is terrible for most FPS games. Might as well pay extra for the steam deck at that point.

There are quite a few handhelds on the market now I could see Sony getting back into that market specially if you could play all of your ps4&5 library on it would absolutely kill right now, be stupid of them not to with the steam deck, switch and other such devices doing fairly well and there is clearly a market for a handheld PS and I think the portal was a testing ground to see if theyâre was enough market share to warrant the investment into it. Weâll see though Sony is weird.

I love mine. Itâs really nice. I played Trails IV in South Carolina over the holiday, worked flawlessly with my console, in Nebraska.
