They say Jewish is ethnic when it suits them then say itâs religious when it suits them. Iâve been told both by different jews. When I say religious, they say âhahah you donât know what youâre talking about we are an ethnicityâ and when I say ethnicity they say âwe are not ethnic hhaha you donât know what youâre talking aboutâ . They switch up to try to âwinâ an argument.

If you take a genetic test, it will show Jewish. Because itâs an ethnicity. Iâve yet to see any genetic test where the recipient is a Christian or a Muslim. This is a big problem that people have is they think that Jewish is a religion and itâs not. Itâs an ethnicity. Judaism is our faith. Itâs our religious practices. I think if people actually understood this, even from a scientific standpoint, it would combat so much antisemitism for people who think that Jews are just white people that had a religion that moved to this area. because thatâs not what happened. We have a genetic link to our homeland.

In 1948, not a single Jew returned from Saudi Arabia. Even in other Arab countries, Jews were afraid to immigrate to Israel, and did not take this step, and therefore decided to convert to Islam because the political conflict affected them. You have to understand, before 1948, Jews lived as a surviving minority with a lot of fear, and the sense of security in their lives caused them great fear, that is - racism in the past was much more than just racism.

But to be fair to both, the word Jewish is used interchangably between ethnicity and the religion, precisely because Judaism is so tightly coupled with the etnicity. That does complicate the discussion.

The reason why there is a confusion is because it is a race of people and a religion. The reason being is that the name of the Jewish people came from the fact that they originated from a place called Judaea which is now Israel. As Judaism is one of the oldest religions everyone who came from Judaea was of the Jewish faith as this was before more modern religions like Christianity. This is why if your mother is Jewish in the sense of her bloodline originating from Judaea then you are Jewish in the same token. The religion or faith is different but share the same name as the race due to it history
