Who am I kidding 😂
I will definitely be the bearer of bad news, because it can make ALL the difference.
🏋🏽♀️ I cannot tell you the number of fit women I’ve worked with who have missing or irregular periods and are told to keep exercising.
“Don’t worry about your mileage!”
“You’re not training like an athlete so it doesn’t matter”
“You’re fine to keep exercising as long as you gain weight”
📆 Yet months and months go by, periods don’t come back, treatment cycles fail, and you’re still not pregnant.
This is exactly where my client Andrea was when she found me.
🏃🏼♀️ Andrea had suffered multiple stress fractures as a competitive runner. In fact, when she came to me she had been completely sidelined from running at all due to a fracture in her femur.
What seemed to be a mystery to her doctors about why this young seemingly healthy runner kept getting injured was very apparent to me.
She hadn’t had a real period in years! 🩸
After becoming very serious about running in college, Andrea lost her period and was placed on the birth control as a “quick fix”
As for what to do when she wanted to have kids? “We’ll worry about it then” she was told.
After getting married and accomplishing her goal of running the 6 major marathons, Andrea was ready to accomplish her next goal of becoming a mom.
❌ She came off the pill and quickly realized that her lack of period made getting pregnant pretty complicated.
While she had already made some great changes with her diet, like eating more carbs, there were still tweaks we needed to make with her nutrition and lifestyle to get ovulating naturally.
‼️In just 8 weeks of working together, Andrea welcomed her first natural period in years‼️
🤰🏼 3 months later, Andrea got pregnant completely naturally and shocked her IVF clinic
Andrea is expecting a baby girl later this year because she finally got the support and direction she needed to prioritize rest and fuel properly for healthy hormones and fertility.
