Bruh. I moved to Canada in highschool from Japan, and nepotism in the workplace and in the school system is a real thing. I'm Canadian by birth, but my mom is American (dad is Canadian), and it was impossible for either of them to get a job of equal standing of their experience and education. Only because we weren't from that area. My mom had 20 years of teaching under her belt, at international private schools, but they turned her down for a substitute position (in English which my mom specialized in) to give to my volleyball coach who had never taught before nor knew any of the materials simply because she was a cousin of the VP. My dad ended up staying in Japan because he was head of a university department in Japan and would have had to start from scratch here. My mom went back to school for a different field for both bachelors and masters (because her previous degrees were American and not Canadian). Honestly took her another 10 years before working in a decent position. Mainly because she finally got her foot in the door of the community.

I think there should be a difference between a son or daughter of a politician and a spouse of a politician in the nepo-baby conversation. a spouse probably supported the politician personally and had a more equal relationship with them, while an offspring was just born into the unilateral support of their famous parent.

Rob Ford's line, "I get plenty at home." Will never not make me laugh uncontrollably.
