Purple passionflower, sometimes called passionfruit, or “maypop,” is an incredible wild food AND herb.
I’ve just started experimenting with eating the herbaceous parts of this plant more.
Passionvine is generally regarded as safe to consume. There are some obscure mentions of people experiencing nausea from eating them, so as with anything, always try a small amount first!

Love growing these for the Gulf Fritallry butterfly ❤ I’m in SE Texas, so I’ve never gotten actual fruit from my vine (due to over abundance of beautiful Gulf Frits) but I love seeing full fruits out in the wild.

These grew on a hillside in my neighborhood as a child. I loved the flowers because they reminded me of ballerinas.
